About us

Welcome

Welcome to Kenwood Elementary School! Please join with as we celebrate over five decades of providing an excellent educational program to the children in our community. Kenwood School is a place where teachers, students, parents and community members work together to provide a foundation of academic success for all of our students.

The Kenwood School District is a one-school district with an accompanying preschool and after school center located adjacent to our campus. Our current enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year in grades K-6 is 122 students. We have one class for each grade level from kindergarten through sixth grade. Our classrooms average less than 20 students in each room. In addition to our outstanding and dedicated teaching staff, all of our classrooms are supported by a teaching assistant, who works under the direction of the classroom teacher to provide the best possible academic environment in each grade.

Thanks to the continued support of our community, we have been able to maintain teaching specialists in the subject areas of reading, physical education, music, library, and computer technology.

Our school continues to focus our attention on the importance of teaching our children to be active and contributing members of their community. We highlight monthly “Life Skills,” which reinforce our belief in the importance of making a difference in the lives of others.

As a public school that is situated in a beautiful and peaceful country setting in Sonoma County, our unparalleled small class sizes and high achievement on standardized tests continue to draw the interest of families in and around Kenwood who are looking for the most comprehensive and child centered educational program for their preschool and elementary school age children. Kenwood School’s tradition of academic excellence and personal connection with each child attracts families from throughout Sonoma County who choose our school through the interdistrict transfer process. Presently, 49% of our students reside outside of the Kenwood District boundaries
